"The event was set up in 2019 by members of Run Wild MCR, the social running club at the University of Manchester. There would be no Run Wild MCR without MCR. It’s not just the city we run through on a Tuesday night, it’s the vibrant, inclusive community of runners - and beyond - that we are proud to be a part of. We believe that our city, like our sport, is for everyone.

But, with homelessness rates in Greater Manchester among the highest in the country, thousands of people remain literally locked out. The Manchester 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness was born out of our desire to bring people together from across the city and support the work of local organisations helping people off the streets and back into the community by raising funds for the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity." - James Bannister, Run Wild MCR

In 2020 Run Wild MCR stacked up a total of 2721km, raising £4,270.

Anyone can join in, running or walking as far as you like in 5km laps of the city centre, and you can also take part virtually wherever you are in the world and add your distance to the total online. You can find out more about how to get involved on -

Get involved in 2021:

There's two ways to take part, just pick whichever suits you, and help us to raise over £3000 for A Bed Every Night.

Between midday on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th of November, we are aiming to run and walk a cumulative total of around 1400km, the distance from Land's End to John O'Groats

In-person relay

To take part in our in-person relay, all you have to do is turn up at the University of Manchester Student's Union Building any time during the 24 Hours and join the next group that heads off around the 5km lap. Laps will start roughly every 30 minutes, and you will always have at least 2 run leaders from Run Wild Manchester to navigate. It really is that simple!

Virtual run/walk

If you are unable to join us for the run in Manchester, you can still take part by running or walking wherever you are in the world, and adding your distance to our total on our website.
