"We used the unrestricted fund to support our response to closure of soup kitchen during pandemic – we wanted to ensure the people who relied upon this service still had access to food. We created a network with other charities and community group and set up food deliver service. The funding helps us to employ coordinator, this person was responsible for managing the safety of our volunteers.
"This project was invaluable. We had 60 people visiting the soup kitchen every night, with these provisions closed these people, who already experience food poverty, were at further risk. In addition, other charities referred into the service to ensure other vulnerable people at risk had access to food deliveries. At its peak, this network was supporting over 300 people per week. We couldn’t of responded in this way without funding." - John Wigley, Sanctuary Trust
