Our grant-making policy.

We believe that homelessness has no place in Greater Manchester. To help make that a reality, we fund projects, programmes and initiatives which aim to tackle the issue in all it’s forms across the city region through three priority areas:

  • Emergency Response: helping the frontline in addressing homelessness and supporting people currently experiencing homelessness.

  • Places and Spaces: supporting the construction of new spaces and the temporary accommodation sector.

  • Targeted Prevention: pioneering new ideas that seek to stop homelessness before it becomes a reality.

Across our priority areas, we prioritise applications which fit our values: Effective, Pioneering and Collaborative.

Please review all information on this page before submitting an application.

Who we fund.

As well as charities, we will also consider funding public bodies, CIOs, community groups, social enterprises, campaigning organisations and commercial companies whose work aligns to our priority areas and values.

We are a Living Wage Funder and work with grantees to become Real Living Wage employers.

We fund across three priority areas: Emergency Response, Places & Spaces, and Targeted Prevention. Due to our pre-existing commitment to support A Bed Every Night, we particularly welcome applications for Places & Spaces and Targeted Prevention.

How we fund.

Due to current funding commitments and available funds, we are not accepting any stage 1 applications at this time.

Where organisations delivering frontline emergency response are facing significant financial difficulty, we are still able to receive stage 1 applications under the ‘Emergency Response’ stream. However, you must first get in touch to discuss a possible application prior to submission. We are always open to connect with organisations and hear about what they do and their future plans, so please do reach out if you would like a chat.

We aim to work flexibly and collaboratively with the organisations we fund. We are actively interested in supporting grant recipients throughout the agreed grant period and beyond, taking a relationship-based approach.

We are open to matched funding and partnership opportunities, working with other funders, investors and businesses.

How we make decisions.

All Stage 1 Applications are reviewed internally by the Operational Team and the Funding and Investment Board sub-committee. Where appropriate, the charity may seek support from external advisors. Final decisions on any grant awarded lies with the Board of Trustees.

We aim to get back in touch with you within two months of submitting your Stage 1 Application. If required, we may request a meeting with you to learn more about your work.

If your application is for £5,000 or less, we will consider funding based on information provided in the Stage 1 Application and any further information we may request. For funding requested over £5,000, you may be invited to complete a Stage 2 Application. This requests more detailed information with additional questions.

All grants are dependent on the availability of current funds. We welcome matched funding opportunities but will not consider a proposal that has been successfully submitted elsewhere.

How we measure impact.

When you apply for funding we’ll ask you to tell us the impact you hope our support can make happen. We’re interested to hear from you about what, when, and how you can measure outcomes.

The reporting we ask for will be proportional to the level of investment from us and we will work closely with you to understand the difference the funding has made. We are keen to learn alongside you and are open to conversations about what goes well and what does not.

We like to work with you on sharing stories, case studies and communications about the impact of our partnership.

Impact and outcomes will be discussed and included as part of any grant agreement alongside the terms and conditions and how we make payments.

How to apply.

Once you have read all the information on this page, you should submit a short Stage 1 Application form. This checks your eligibility for a grant, and gathers information about your organisation and the work you are seeking funding for.

As outlined above, for grants of less than £5,000, the Funding & Investment sub-committee may make a recommendation based on the information received in the Stage 1 Application. If the funds requested are greater, or more information is required, you may be invited to submit a Stage 2 Application.

Please note, we are not currently reviewing applications. If you wish to submit a Stage 1 Application as an emergency request, and have reviewed all information above, please first get in contact to discuss this in advance.

To submit an Stage 1 Application, you can either fill in this form, request a blank Word doc, or submit a video explaining your idea and how much you’d like to request. If submitting a video, please contact us to confirm the eligibility criteria and key information required in your submission. You can also visit the online form above to confirm eligibility.
