A Bed Every Night: Our Impact
GMMC continue to support the A Bed Every Night programme and in 2021/22 funded 21,900 nights’ accommodation.
We are a founding funder of the flagship A Bed Every Night (ABEN) programme and have always played our part in Greater Manchester's frontline response.
A Bed Every Night is built on the principle that no one should be excluded from support and forced to sleep on the streets, and we fund those who are legally deemed to have ‘No Recourse to Public Funds’ (NRPF).
2021/22 Impact Highlights
We funded 60 beds per night – equating to 21,900 nights’ accommodation
258 individuals were supported by Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit
Training on immigration has been delivered to 53 people and advice and guidance provided to an additional 28 members of staff working on ABEN across GM
204 people with No Recourse To Public Funds were accommodated in ABEN accommodation who would otherwise be at imminent risk of rough sleeping
NRPF ABEN supported people from 122 different nationalities
Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity (GMMC) funds just a part of the ABEN programme which has helped over 3,000 people and has seen a reduction in rough sleeping by 57% in the last four years.
Since 2018 we have funded over 40,000 nights accommodation for those who would otherwise have been sleeping on our streets.
We want to continue to fund this innovative and vital initiative. If you are interested in supporting our work you can donate online or get in touch to talk about how you can make a difference.
Launched in autumn 2018, ABEN was set up by the Mayor as a humanitarian response to the rough sleeping crisis.
Donate today and know that your money will help tackle homelessness across our city-region for a fairer and more sustainable future.
