Greater Manchester photographers join us in our battle against homelessness

At Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity, we could not do the work we do without the support and generosity of our city-region’s business community. Professionals working in every field have generously donated their time and expertise to help us in our battle against homelessness.

A little while ago we made a call on social media, inviting photographers to join us in a new project. We needed help increasing our photobank of images that we could use across our social media platforms, website and any more general communications materials.

Two brilliant local photographers took up the project and began snapping our city-region. Their brief was to photograph the Greater Manchester landscape, engaging with ideas of home and homelessness.

You can see a selection of the work from these two photographers below.

I have not been homeless luckily but I have struggled financially over the years with mental and physical health. Its a challenge but I get up each day and work hard and try my best, so this was just a little way of giving something back.

Over the last few years I’ve seen an increase in homelessness throughout Manchester. When I saw the photography competition I realised this was an opportunity to use my creative skills to support the important work of Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity in helping to stop homelessness before it becomes a reality.
