Welcome to our New Head of Strategic Development

Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity announces Dr Fran Darlington-Pollock as new Head of Strategic Development.

Dr Fran Darlington-Pollock joined Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity as its new Head of Strategic Development on Wednesday 16th November.

Prior to joining GMMC, Fran worked as a Research Advisor for Save the Children UK. Previously, she was a lecturer in population and health geography, first at Queen Mary University of London and more recently, the University of Liverpool. Fran is also a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of York.

Talking about her new role, Fran said:

“Homelessness has no home in Greater Manchester, and I am delighted to join the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity supporting their work to make that vision a reality. We are in the midst of a cost of living crisis that is sending shockwaves through families and households, squeezing service providers, and constraining businesses. Entering a turbulent winter in the shadows of this economic turmoil, it is more important than ever to unite to tackle and prevent homelessness in our region”

Commenting on her appointment, Tim Heatley, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said:

“We are delighted to have appointed Fran. Her experience and knowledge in social, economic and health inequalities and the social justice space is very relevant to our role. She has a clear determination to end homelessness.

In the current economic climate, the funding and support we offer will be more vital than ever. The Board is looking forward to working with Fran, colleagues and our partners in the shared aim of ending homelessness if Greater Manchester”
